Every year, millions of perfectly capable legacy Android devices are bricked by tripped by having just an older Android version, rendering them useless e-waste. My vision is to use the open-source pipeline to turn these discarded phones into $5 USD-equivelent Rupees YouTube(or any modern app)-enabled educational lifelines for children in rural India, (and other places around the globe)

In this interactive Classroom Activity, we will dive into the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) and LineageOS architecture. I will demonstrate the process of porting a modern Android OS to a 10 year-old legacy android phone. We will examine the Device Tree, modify the kernel, understanding the android architecture, and writing shims in C++ to bridge legacy hardware drivers and modern OS.

We will also discuss the ways to utilize AI to spread the gospels to the world, introducing LineageOS to them, bridging digital divide.

This is a collaborative session: I am an 18-year-old developer bringing the hardware, the vision, and the initial build structure. I am looking to the senior HK open-source community to mentor alongside me, review the architecture, and help bring this humanitarian build across the finish line.
